Aran Valley

The Aran Valley, located the extreme north-western part of Catalonia and has borders with France and Aragon, is a valley of 620km2 of Atlantic coast and is crossed by the Garonne river.

As official language found Aranese, together with Catalan and Castilian.

Mountains and ports inaccessible mountain with snow and inaccessible the rest of the year, have been for years a communication barrier with neighboring lands such as Catalonia and Aragon.

In 1948 Viella tunnel wasopened and in 1924 the port of Bonaigua and  improved communications.

Due to its geographical location has a cold climate, which makes skiing and snow sports play an important role in the area.
